The Mercedes Benz Stadium is a new, 2 million square foot, 75,000 to 77,000 seat, multi-purpose sports and events facility that primarily serves as the home venue for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons. Located on a 24.9 acre site in Atlanta, Georgia, it provides a new, state-of-the-art facility for the Falcons, and it also includes facilities necessary to accommodate other major events such as the BCS Football Championship, SEC Championship Game, SEC Basketball Tournament, the NCAA Final Four, the FIFA World Cup, and serves as the home venue for the city’s new MLS soccer franchise which began in 2017. The stadium is designed to be partitionable lo allow for the venue to be sized appropriately for the various types of events taking place there. The venue has a retractable roof consisting of movable ETFE roof panels over fixed, traditional TPO membrane roofing areas.
Epsten Group provided Roofing and Waterproofing Consulting for the stadium for all traditional TPO roofing, and above and below-grade waterproofing systems. The scope of work involved below-grade waterproofing services as well as TPO membrane roofing evaluation and assessment, and assistance in resolving roof membrane installations, details, and design issues.
